Dave Thomas – Painting Master

341_dt_bretpair_1_50 Just arrived in the Citadel Miniatures Hall are the beautiful miniatures of Citadel Design’s sculptor and painter Dave Thomas. On display over the next few months his distinctive painting style is worth seeing, guaranteed to inspire new and existing hobbyists.

All of the miniatures featured in the Painting Masters article of White Dwarf issue 341 are on display, including Commissar Yarick, a Mordheim Ogre and a Freelance Knight - Dave’s Golden Demon entry for 2000. Unfortunately his Kislev Musician isn’t included, but with good reason – Dave kindly gave it to his father as a birthday present. However, being a generous soul he has added a few more figures to the display, not seen in the White Dwarf article.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see Dave’s modelling and painting expertise for yourself!

Did You Spill My Pint?

2008_bugman_figure Released this week was the 2008 Limited Edition figure of the great Dwarf brewmeister himself - Josef Bugman.

Sculpted by Aly Morrison, Josef can be modelled wileding a bar-stool (clearly after a number of drinks!) or his trusty rune-axe. The miniature is available only from Bugman's Bar here at Warhammer World.

So next time you visit us, pick up your special Josef Bugman miniature, but don't spill his pint!

Thanks for a great day!

Wh_25_logo_sm Ahhh Monday morning and the pain behind my eyes from the Warhammer 25 party in Bugman's is finally begining to subside...

As a final blog post, I just wanted to say a huge thank you again to everyone who made it to Warhammer World on Saturday. It was a great event with some fantastic games of Warhmamer palyed and the Studio game was simply spectacular. The store speed painting was hilarious and the 25-hour non-stop Warhammer games were heroic.

As we sort through them, we'll compile some of best photos into a new photo album. Here are a few to be going on with. Warhammer 25 Celebration Photo Album

Thanks again and see you all soon

Lull before the storm

Wh_25_logo_sm_10Six and a half hours after openingthe doors, things are still going strong here at Warhammer World. We've just been amazed at the distances people have travelled to come and spend the day with us. We've had people from Cornwall, Wales, the North West and even one family from Scotland who set out at 5.00am this morning, just to come and celebrate with us.

We've also had a really big number of 'dads and lads' blokes my age...50ish or so...that first got into Warhammer over a quarter of a century ago and are now still happily gaming with the own sons, and in lots of cases daughters.

While I'm rambling, I also have to say a very big Warhammer Birthday THANK YOU to all of the hard-working enthusiasts from the GCN (Gaming Clubs Network) who have come along today and run games, taught the rules to newbies and generally made it a fantastic Warhammer day.

Robin_blogging_2I was also talking to artist John Blanche this afternoon and someone came up to him and asked him what was his all-time favourite miniature from the last twenty five years. He paused for a moment and smiled as only John can, and replied - "the next one...cause I haven't seen or imagined it  yet!"

In some ways that's how we all feel at Games Workshop...its been a fantastic, wonderful, exciting 25 years, but we've only just begun to learn our craft...the very very best is still yet to come.

And this evening...well it wouldn't be right if we didn't quaff an ale or two and bless the good ship Warhammer good health and here to the next 25!

Happy Birthday Warhammer from the odd couple!

Wh_25_logo_sm_8Its lunchtime here at Warhammer World and we managed to catch Jervis Johnson and Rick Priestley quaffing a quick half in Bugman's.

Rick_and_jervis We thought we'd ask them to Warhammer a Happy Birthday in their own inimicable way

Thoughts from the Standard Bearer

Wh_25_logo_sm_7 Robin¹s just collared me and asked me to write something for his 25th
Warhammer Anniversary blog poor fool, you¹d have think he¹d have learned
by now not to encourage my ramblings ; )

I think the thing that stands out for me most today is that strange feeling
of pride and humility that you get when you see a crowd of people really
enjoying something you¹ve helped to create. I don¹t mean this in a boastful
way; in fact it¹s rather humbling, and it certainly helps remind me of the
responsibility I have to the players of this great game.

Jj_3 It¹s also really inspiring to be surrounded by such an enthusiastic crowd of Warhammer players, and to have the chance to talk to them about the hobby that we love. I know that I¹ll return to the Studio on Monday, my batteries recharged, and excited by the things I¹ve seen and the conversations that I¹ve had. It¹s stuff like this that makes me look forward with real anticipation to the next twenty-five years of Warhammer...

Religious Fanatics arrive in force

Wh_25_logo_sm_6 Following on from the invasion by Dwarfs and Gobbo's we now have an influx of religious fanatics, flagelants and redemptionists arriving to bolster the forces of the Empire.
