Christmas Closures

Although everyone here loves their jobs we have to go home sometime, so over the festive period Warhammer World and Bugmans Bar will be closed:

• December 25th
• January 1st

On the 26th The Hobby Centre, Gaming Arena, Citadel Miniatures Hall and Exhibition will still be available as usual, but Bugman's Bar and the food service will be unavailable.

A few tweaks before New Year

There's been a bit of work going on with the blog in the run up to 2010. These can be found to the left in the What, When and Where section.

• New directions sheet, with extra details for those walking, cycling or interested in public transport.

• Improved "Virtual Tour" - it's nothing flashy but there's a photo album of images showing just a few of the highlights before you come and see for yourself.

• There's a new calendar available, which colour codes each day so that you can plan a visit knowing how busy we will be and what facilities are available. This also has dates for our own tournaments, so you can plan time off work and prepare those vital excuses for partners and parents about why you HAVE to come here.

New Guest Display in Citadel Miniatures Hall

Jonathan Carter's miniatures have previously been seen in the pages of Games Workshop publications, and two of his armies are currently on display until the 16th of January.

His Sisters of Battle and Black Templars armies are both extensively converted and beautifully painted. Added to a good eye for details such as sculpted bases the result is just short of jaw dropping. Those familiar with the range of Citadel Miniatures will also have great fun working out what parts were used in the carefully blended conversions. With head swaps, through to almost full resculpts, leaving miniatures looking so natural in their composition and pose you can't spot Jon's hard work.

Come and pick up some ideas suitable for improoving any army, from now until the 16th.

Space Marine Touring Exhibition now on display

Having flown around the world, the Space Marine Touring Exhibition has returned to Games Workshop HQ where it will be on display only until January the 10th.

With books, boxed miniatures, painted miniatures and three-ups going right back to the 1980's, there's been many a cry of "I had one of those!" and for younger hobbyists it's a chance to appreciate where their armies have come from and the development over the years.

New artwork and miniatures have been added for display, so even if you saw this at the UK Games Day, it's well worth a second look to get up close to some Games Workshop History.

Wildcards Announced!

While the Grand tournament heats may be over, the quest is still on to find the overall Champion from amongst the lucky few who have qualified. These have been a fantastic set of heats to run this year, and so I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who attended on behalf of the events team and Games Workshop, for making it such a pleasure and one of the best we’ve ever run.

 

 

Last Chance to see John Blanche Exhibition

Cureated by our Director of Art and artist of over 25 years with Games Workshop, John Blanche, the exhibition combines John's work with pieces he has chosen to represent the range of work produced by our other artists. Miniatures from private collections are also on display, and this may be your only chance to see for real some classic and brand new 'Blanchitsu' miniatures.

Extended past it's original end date, the current Art and Design Exhibition will be taken down on Monday the 7th to make way for the 2009 Touring Exhibition on Space Marines.
